In Q1 2024, the ePaper has gained significant popularity among our subscribers.
However, the adoption rate of the ePaper Mode Artikel feature remains low, signaling that this feature is underperforming compared to the average adoption rates, as indicated by data from UserPilot.
This suggests a missed opportunity in driving further engagement and maximizing the potential of the ePaper experience for our users.
In 2022, we introduced the ePaper Mode Article feature to enhance the reading experience by providing a more comfortable, zoom-free view of the ePaper.
However, through our qualitative research, we identified that users are not aware of the ePaper Mode Artikel feature on the ePaper page.
Conducting user research interviews with select Kompas.id subscribers to gain insights into their digital reading patterns, preferences, and behaviors.
Conducting a comprehensive funnel analysis to investigate user drop-off patterns, with a specific focus on the correlation between platform adoption rates and ePaper consumption metrics.
As I did competitive analysis, I realized that some applications use coachmark and onboarding buttom sheet to introduce their feature. These results help users quickly understand and navigate complex functionalities, reducing learning curves and enhancing overall user experience.
Based on the information available from Userpilot's website, onboarding is indeed an effective approach for introducing new features and boosting adoption rates.
Additionally, I found that animations transform mundane tutorials into enjoyable, interactive experiences that naturally guide user attention.
Based on combining my competitive analysis and our design system, I come up with some designs.
I discovered that leading applications strategically employ onboarding bottom sheet as powerful user experience (UX) design techniques.
These targeted guidance mechanisms significantly enhance feature discoverability and user comprehension, enabling new users to quickly understand and engage with complex or novel functionalities.
By providing contextual, step-by-step visual explanations precisely where users interact with new features, these onboarding tools reduce cognitive load and learning curves, improving user adoption, satisfaction, and retention rates.
